On May 3, 2024, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Dublin organised a webinar titled "Study in Czechia - Webinar for Counselors from Ireland". The webinar started with a short introductory speech by Ambassador Pavel Vošalík. The main goal of this event was to present the possibilities of studying programs in English at Czech universities to Irish student counselors associated with the "Institute of Guidance Counselors" and the "Teaching Council of Ireland".
This presentation was undertaken by representatives of the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research, who introduced the Czech Republic as a potential destination for study of a wide range of high quality and affordable programmes through English. The webinar was met with a very positive response on the Irish side.
The phenomenon of Irish students and Czech universities is rather a matter of the last two decades, but their numbers are not completely negligible considering the size of the Irish population. There are currently 45 Irish university students registered in the Czech Republic (24 of them are studying healthcare, 12 are studying social sciences or journalism). According to available statistics, 147 Irish citizens (95 of them medicine) have already graduated from Czech universities.
