On 15 March 2017, the Czech Embassy in Dublin successfully hosted an event promoting tourism to the Czech Republic, showcasing the beauty of Czech Baroque.
The event was hosted by the Czech Embassy with assistance from the CzechTourism agency, and in her opening, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ireland, Hana Mottlová, took the opportunity to emphasise the vast and rich wonders of Czech Baroque on offer to Irish visitors as well as the importance of such events in the deepening of co-operation among Irish tourism offices and Czech bodies to facilitate the growth of tourism from Ireland to the Czech Republic.
The attending representatives of Irish media and tourism bodies then enjoyed a presentation from the Director of CzechTourism in London, Katarína Hobbs, showcasing the main Baroque monuments in Bohemia and Moravia. The presentation was followed by a lecture from Lynda Mulvin, associate professor at the School of Art History & Cultural Policy in University College Dublin, who dwelled deeper into the Baroque style and its prominence in monuments across the Czech Republic. The closing of the information part of the event was accompanied by a musical performance from the family trio of Marianna Alaberdova, Antonín Brychta and Leo Brychta, who performed pieces from Baroque composers such as Jan Dismase Zelenka, Antonín Rejcha and Karel Stamic. After the official programme, the guests were invited to enjoy some Moravian wine and Czech beer.
