For December screening, we have chosen the film Alois Nebel (2011) directed by Tomáš Luňák.

Annotation: After the Velvet Revolution, an older Sudetenland train dispatcher is visited by ghosts from the past in this marvelous work of rotoscope animation that is adapted from Jaroslav Rudis’ and Jaromir 99’s graphic-novel trilogy and is infused with an otherworldly sense of dread and melancholy. The setting is an isolated Czech train station nestled in a forest in the mountainous region along the border with Germany and Poland, and stands as a portrait of the fractured psychology of a man and his country. The adaptation of the comics, created by combining a feature film and a cartoon - using the so-called rotoscopy method.
