We would like to inform clients of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago that the period of temporarily reduced staffing capacity within the Consular Section, announced on July 3, 2026, has now ended.
As of August 1, 2026, services related to citizenship matters and vital records are once again being provided in full.
We would like to thank our clients for their patience and cooperation. Thanks to organizational measures implemented by our office, we were able to maintain the smooth operation of both agendas and continue providing services at an appropriate level.
Standard appointment scheduling and processing for both citizenship and vital records matters have also been fully restored. Applicants may once again take advantage of all available appointment slots and handle their matters through the usual communication and scheduling channels, primarily by contacting us at: Chicago.Consular.Section@mzv.gov.cz
Applicants can also continue submitting eligible applications by mail whenever possible. This option saves time otherwise spent arranging an in-person appointment, taking time away from work or other commitments, and traveling to our office.
If your application and all supporting documents are properly prepared, you only need to have the signatures on the application and accompanying documents notarized by a U.S. Notary Public and mail the complete package to our office. Upon receipt, we will review the submission and, if it is complete and without deficiencies, we will send you an email with a link to pay the applicable consular fee through our online payment system.
