Consular & Visa Fees

The amount of administrative fees for consular and visa actions are determined by Act No. 634/2004 Coll.
The conversion to dollars is always carried out on the 1st of each calendar month depending on the current exchange rate of the Czech crown against the dollar.
Payment of the fees can be made:
A. CREDIT/DEBIT CARD: the amount is charged in CZK or EUR according to the valid price list (the charged amount does not include bank fees for currency conversion, which are charged by the cardholder's bank). All major credit cards are accepted: Visa, Visa Elektron, Mastercard, Maestro, Diners Club International, UnionPay, Discover, JCB. We do not accept AMERICAN EXPRESS. The payment is made to the Czech ČSOB.
B. ONLINE PAYMENT: based on your request, the Consulate will generate an electronic link for each transaction to pay through the ČSOB payment gateway,
C. CASH in dollars only
D. PAYMENT ORDER issued in favor of the "Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago" with the exact amount of the requiered consular or visa action (e.g. If the current fee for student visa is 100 dollars, we will not be able to accept a money order in any another amount - if the money order is less or more than the amount of 100 dollars.).We do not accept PERSONAL CHECKS.
If you are sending a payment by mail (e.g. USPS), please bear in mind that every first day of the calendar month the consular fees change according to the current exchange rate and the Consulate publishes an updated List of Fees.
Therefore, the rates may change slightly and if your payment is not sufficient, it will not be possible to accept your payment and perform the required consular or visa action.
That is why if you decide to pay the fee by mail, we advise to send the envelope with the payment well before the end of the month (at least 10 days) or right at the beginning of the month after the announcement of new updated current consular & visa fees.
