Visa and Consular Department Basic Information


All consular and visa visits must be requested and confirmed by email.  This measure also applies to family members of EU citizens applying for Schengen visas. No visitor without an appointment will be allowed entry into the Visa and Consular Department.
 

Visa applications (Schengen visa, long term visa/stays) are arranged according to prior appointment.

HOW TO CONTACT US 

Before contacting us, please review the visa information on our website carefully. Avoid sending general inquiries that are already addressed on our website. Questions regarding appointment booking and required documents will not receive a response.

Response Time: The consulate typically replies to specific email inquiries within 5 working days.  

Important Notes:  

          - The Embassy does not respond to anonymous emails,

             emails written in languages other than Czech or English, or repetitive emails.  

          - The consulate does not provide updates during the processing period.  

          - The consulate does not communicate via social media or WhatsApp. 

Suggestions and Complaints: 

          - Under Article 47(1)(j) or Article 38(5) of the Visa Code, suggestions and complaints can be submitted to cairo.consulate@mzv.gov.cz

          - This email is not for visa appointments or complaints about refusals. Visa decisions and appointments follow official procedures and cannot be changed through complaints.

 

WORKING LANGUAGES

In accordance with § 169 of the Act no. 326/1999 Sb., about the stay of foreigners in the territory of the Czech Republic, the working languages of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo are Czech, English and Arabic. Submitted documents are accepted in Czech language only or in officially translated form.

PASSPORT AND REFUSAL LETTER COLLECTION FOR ALL TYPES OF VISAS 

Passport collection 

✔ From Sunday to Thursday between 14:00 - 15:00 

✔ Exceptionally, a passport can be collected by an authorized person or via DHL with a Power of Attorney with a verified signature - with no responsibility for eventual loss/damage on the Embassy side – OR authorzation must be be submitted alongside with the visa application on the day of submission. 

Visa appeals 

✔ Appeals may be submitted only in person Sunday to Thursday between 14:00 - 15:00. More information on how to submit an appeal on the following link

Missing Documents 

✔ Sunday to Thursday between 14:00 - 15:00. 

 

CONSULAR TERRITORIAL COMPETENCE:

- The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo processes applications for Schengen visas and long-term visas/residence permits for citizens and long-term/permanent residents of Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Yemen, and the Gaza Strip.   

- According to the Ministerial Decree of the Territorial Competence of the Czech Embassies, the Czech Embassy in Cairo is responsible for examining and deciding on visa applications for applicants legally residing in these countries. Applications must be submitted in person.

- Due to the conflict in Sudan, the representation of the Embassy of Switzerland for Sudanese Schengen visa applicants has been terminated. As a result, all applicants from Sudan must lodge their visa applications at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo.   

- Palestinian applicants from the Gaza Strip may also submit their visa applications at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo.
