As part of the Czech Presidency, EU Ambassadors held talks with Minister of Justice Catalin Predoiu

Ambassador Halka Kaiserová invited Romanian Minister of Justice Catalina Predoiu to a meeting with EU ambassadors. The main topics of the meeting were the ongoing judicial reform and Romania's progress under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism. The ambassadors' debate with the Minister also touched on Schengen.
The EU ambassadors were interested in the three laws approved by Parliament on 17 October, against which the opposition has lodged a complaint with the Constitutional Court. Minister Predoui explained the content and progress of the approval of the Law on the Organisation of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Law on the Organisation of the Judiciary and the Law on the Status of Judges and Prosecutors. He also reported on the fulfilment of the criteria of the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism and his close cooperation with the European Commission. Finally, the debate also touched upon the topic of Schengen.
