Prof. Sylvie Graf, Czech Academy of Sciences, introduced evidence-based solutions to tensions between social groups in current multicultural and post-conflict societies. She discussed how different types of direct and indirect contact with members of distinct social groups, particularly via the mass media, can challenge prejudice against these groups. She also focused on the role of language that we use for describing social groups, such as immigrants, in shaping attitudes toward them. Finally, she equieped participants with concrete suggestions for improving intergroup relations.
