During the Advent season, a Christmas jazz concert featuring Czech pianist Daniel Bulatkin and Dutch singer Laura Drion took place at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bern. The concert took place as part of the Swiss tour of both artists and in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic in Geneva.
Pianist, organist, and composer Daniel Bulatkin (*1999) is one of the outstanding personalities of young Czech jazz with a unique sound and signature. He is currently based in the Netherlands and can be heard in formations ranging from straight-ahead and modern jazz, prog-rock, neo-soul, and world music. He often performs alongside international stars. At the Embassy concert, he accompanied the singer-songwriter Laura Drion, who is beginning to establish herself on the Dutch jazz scene. Together, they performed a program of original songs, several well-known and lesser-known Christmas songs, and a repertoire by Bill Evans. As a bonus and to create a Christmas atmosphere, they added a few Czech carols for the embassy guests from the diplomatic corps and the Czech community in Switzerland.
