Czech team at the world youth roboticists competition in Athens

The international youth robotics competition FIRST Global Challenge 2024 will be held for the first time in Greece. With the initiative of the Ministry of Digital Governance, students aged 14 to 18 from 193 countries around the world, together with a group of refugees, will meet in Athens from 26 to 29 September 2024 to compete in robotics, programming, artificial intelligence, research and innovation. Among the participants will also be a team Czechia composed of robotics enthusiasts from the International School of Prague (ISP).

The theme of the FIRST Global Challenge 2024 is "Feeding the Future", that means finding innovative solutions how to reduce food waste and ensure sustainable food production. In the first part of the competition, international teams will present innovative projects that reflect the problems of their countries and in the second, competitive part, they will build and program their robots.

The Embassy is proud that the team CZECHIA 2024 of fourteen students from the International School of Prague will be among the young robotics talents from 193 countries that will meet in Athens. Young innovators with different skills and experience are exploring innovative ideas and improving their technologies together. They share a strong passion for building and coding robots. Each of the member brings to the team unique experiences from the competitions they have participated in. In February 2024, some of them competed against other international schools in the CEESA Robotics Tournament in Bucharest. In June 2024 they had the opportunity to participate in the FIRST Slovakia tournament in Košice, where they gained further experience and developed their teamwork. In June, all the team came together to start working on their robot for the participation in the Athens FIRST Global Challenge.
