Agri-green Management Training – Partnership Project with MASHAV Training Center

The development cooperation partnership between the Czech Republic and Israel has its first outcome in Ethiopia. Four people were selected and attended a three weeks training program in Israel given by the MASHAV training center. The trip was coordinated by the Czech Embassy in Addis Ababa. Two participants were selected from projects supported by the Czech Development Agency and two participants are representatives of zonal and regional institutions.
The training was called “Agri-green management: Agri-environmental considerations under climatic changes” and was held at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment in between October 31- November 24, 2016. The training was supplemented by field visits and experienced professionals. Some of the courses the participants attended in the training were: project management, weed management, water management, GIS in integrated pest management, compost and control of plant disease, Forestry in Israel, Irrigation in general and drip-irrigation in particular, Environmental stress and animal husbandry, Agri-tourism, Israel Agriculture, waste water management, soil disinfection and solarization, Bio-diversity and ecosystem services, Sludge management and precision agriculture.
Besides the theoretical training hours, the participants had a chance to make study tours. Among others they visited the Arava Research and Development Center, Ein yahav (agriculture in the desert area of Israel), Israel Plant Gene Bank and ARO volcani center.
