Ambassador Stašek welcomed Venezuelan, Tibetan, Burmese, Iranian and Cuban human rights defenders and civil society representatives, as well as a representative of the Delegation of the EU, on December 8, 2022. The discussion focused on human rights developments in the fore mentioned countries.

The tradition began following the historic breakfast meeting of French President Mitterand with leading Czechoslovak dissidents, including former President Václav Havel in December 1988. The Czech Republic currently holds the EU Presidency.
