
Piano Recital: David Kalhous

The Embassy of the Czech Republic invites you to a classical recital, featuring internationally recognized pianist David Kalhous, on October 18, 2021, at 6 pm. Kalhous will perform a program including: Janáček's On an Overgrown Path, Beethoven's Six Variations in F Major, Scarlatti's Sonata in F minor, Chopin's Nocturne in C-sharp minor, Kubík's Sonata-Portrait for solo piano, among other works. Join us for an evening at the Czech Embassy listening to masterpieces of the ages.
David Kalhous gained critical acclaim in the United States and Europe for his wide-ranging repertoire and adventurous programming spanning over three centuries. As a soloist, he has performed with the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, Prague Philharmonia, Israel Symphony Orchestra, to name a few. As a recitalist and chamber musician, he performed at the Prague Spring Festival, Gilmore Keyboard Festival, Czech Philharmonic Chamber Music Series, among others. Kalhous regularly performs, lectures, and teaches masterclasses.
He has recorded for Czech Radio and Television, and has written and produced programs for Prague’s Classic FM Radio. Kalhous studied at the Prague Conservatory, the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna, Rubin Academy of Music at Tel-Aviv University, and Yale University. He received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from Northwestern University.
The event is part of the Mutual Inspirations Festival 2021 - Věra Čáslavská, inspiring new works, interpretations and perspectives.
