Consular Information
The Consular Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ulaanbaatar provides help to various life situations to the citizens of the Czech Republic, who travel to Mongolia – for short term or long term visits. The citizens can contact the Embassy in situations when they are in need of help due to an accident, loss of travel document, loss of finances. We also alert the citizens in crisis and dangerous situations like earthquakes, floods, fires and other life threatening moments, when coordination by an authority is required. A voluntary database for the citizens of the Czech Republic is in place and everybody travelling abroad can register via the Embassy´s or Ministry´s website.
The Embassy also provides diplomatic and consular assistance to every citizen of the European Union, whose country is not represented in Mongolia by resident Embassy, on the same conditions as the nationals of the Czech Republic. The Embassy provides help in cases of death, serious accident or illness, arrest or detention, to victims of violent crimes and the relief and repatriation of distressed EU citizens. The Embassy can issue a travel document in case of loss of passport.
Besides consular agenda, the Visa Section of the Embassy processes visa applications for short term Schengen visas and all types of national visas and residence permits. The Embassy currently represents Slovakia, Estonia, Poland, Hungary and Lithuania in issuing short term Schengen visas. Citizens of Mongolia and third – country citizens, who hold permanent or long-term residence permit in Mongolia are eligible to lodge visa applications at the Embassy.
Currently, an online registration system called VISAPOINT, operated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, is used to apply for visas. Registration is mandatory for all visa and residence permit types. The primary objective of the VISAPOINT is to ensure equal access to every applicant and to ensure comfort for the applicants. As the Embassy experiences frequent seasonal peaks and the number of applications very often increases beyond the capacity of the Visa Section, we urge all visa applicants to make their online registration well in advance, i.e. before collecting all supporting documents, to avoid last minute capacity problems.
