On 10 November 2017, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Mongolia, Mr. Jiří Brodsky, was received by the new Foreign Minister of Mongolia Mr. Damdiny Tsogtbaatar for bilateral meeting.
The main topic was mutual commercial relations and business opportunities in Mongolia for Czech companies in the field of energy, agriculture, infrastructure development (air and rail transport), mining and water management. The Ambassador stressed the potential commercial continuity of the past development cooperation projects that Czechia has implemented in Mongolia in forestry, geology, remediation of contaminated underground and surface water and soil, etc. The Ambassador also assured the Minister about the continuation of B2B projects, local small scale projects, Aid-for-trade project, as well as the ‘Return of the Przewalski’s Horses’ project by the Prague ZOO.
Minister Tsogtbaatar praised the continuation of these activities and expressed his wish that the Czech and Mongolian Ambassadors should work towards a significant increase in Czech investment flow to Mongolia, especially to Mongolian SME firms, as Mongolia is a gateway to other major Asian markets thanks to free trade agreements.
At the end, the Ambassador informed to the Minister about the abolition of the Visapoint registration system in 37 countries, including Mongolia. He assured the Embassy of the Czech Republic, in cooperation with the Consular Department of the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will hold a press conference by the end of November where the visa applicants will be informed about the new visa application lodging procedure.
