The Ambassador acquainted the Prime Minister with the current situation in Czechia in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic, recalled the repatriation flight from Prague to Ulaanbaatar, which the Czech government co-financed for Mongolian citizens in August last year, the donation of used medical equipment, as well as assistance of Czechia to Mongolia through the budget of the European Union.

Czechia is interested in maintaining the continuity of contacts at the top level, which is why the Czech and Mongolian Parliamentary group members met online last week. On the Czech side, at least two summit visits and a multidisciplinary business mission are being prepared for this year. Czechia is home to the largest community of Mongolian citizens in Europe, currently numbering 10,141 citizens, and the Ambassador praised the operation of the Qualified Employee program, which the embassy continues to fully implement even in the context of covid-related restrictions. The Czech side appreciated the higher frequency of repatriation flights to Europe, which will help resolve the situation of citizens whose residence permits have expired.

Mutual trade remains the focus of Czech-Mongolian relations. Despite its one-fifth decline last year, the interest of Czech companies in business cooperation with Mongolian partners is growing. In each of the sectors of the Mongolian economy, several projects with Czech companies can be named. The Ambassador focused mainly on energy and infrastructure development, including the development of General Aviation and the possibility to launch a direct MIAT flight between Ulaanbaatar and Prague.

An important Czech-Mongolian project is the "Return of Wild Horses" and the Prague Zoo, in cooperation with the Mongolian Ministry of the Environment and the Army of  Czechia, is already preparing the jubilee 10th transport of Převalský's horses to their Mongolian homeland. He also collaborates with British colleagues on the protection of wild camels in the strictly protected area of Gobi A.

At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke with the Ambassador about the possibility of renewing scholarships for Mongolian students, the development of the contractual base between the two countries and informed that Czech entrepreneurs and experts who have already been vaccinated can travel to Mongolia without the obligation of two weeks' quarantine.
