On August 10, 2021, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, received Petr Buriánek, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Toronto, at her residence.

The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell praised the close relations that exist between Canada and the Czech Republic, highlighted the mutual values ​​that both countries share, and talked of some current Canadian issues.
 

Consul General Petr Buriánek briefly acquainted Her Honour with the situation in the Czech Republic, highlighting the role of the Czech community, the largest of which lives in Ontario, in the history and present of Canada and pointing out its role in strengthening traditionally friendly relations between two countries. He also mentioned ongoing cooperation between the province of Ontario and the Czech Republic, especially in the fields of trade, science, education and culture. In addition, Mr. Buriánek also appreciated the fact that Her Honour has visited the Czech Republic several times in the past and has been awarded the Memorial Gold Medal by Charles University in Prague.
