On October 12, 2022, the Czech Ambassador Karel Urban inaugurated the second phase of the small local development cooperation project of the Czech Republic "Windows replacement for energy saving and higher ecology" at the QAFS (Qendra Aktiviteteve Formative Saleziane) school in the city of Shkodra. The mayor of Shkodra Mr. Bardh Spahia, school principal Michaela Kubíčková, representatives of local media and other guests also attended the inauguration.
The Czech Republic donated to the window replacement project a total of EUR 40 000,- from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' development cooperation fund. The money helped to install 48 new windows with a total surface of 250 m2. The building's old single-glazed windows were replaced by modern plastic double-glazed windows with thermal insulation.
The project will bring a significant reduction in heating costs, which is very necessary during the current energy crisis. The project will also have a positive impact on the environment, as the reduction in the consumption of diesel fuel for the heating boiler will result in emission cut.
The Albanian children got a nice and useful gift before upcoming winter that is a much higher comfort during their lessons. The reduction in heating costs will allow to use the saved funds for new school equipment and teaching aids.
