
Intensified Cooperation between Czech and Albanian Police

Cooperation between Czech and Albanian Police has been at excellent levels in the past years.
During May – June 2022, within the Security Development Cooperation Program experts from the Alien police, led by gen. Milan Majer, and from the Transport Police, led by Col. Jiří Zlý, visited Albania. During intensive days in country, both delegations, accompanied by the Czech Ambassador to Albania Mr. Karel Urban and the Representative of the Czech Police in Tirana Capt. Adriatik Shino, met with the General Director of Albanian State Police Mr. Gledis Nano, the Deputy Director Mr. Albert Dervishaj, and the heads of local regional units (Tirana, Gjirokastër, Lezhë, Vlora).
During these meetings, the interlocutors tackled on Albania’s EU integration process, police equipment, and the tourist season, as a large number of tourists, including Czech citizens, are expected in Albania this summer. A presentation of the equipment of the Transport Police was also included in the program.
The police activities ended with a special ceremony at premises of the Czech Embassy where Ambassador Urban awarded medals granted by former Czech Police President Mr. Jan Švejdar to Albanian police representatives with the motivation of strengthening of the mutual relations. The awardees were Mr. Ardi Veliu, former chief of Albanian Police, Mr. Edmond Rizai, director of the investigation Office, and Mr. Erion Ahmeti, former director of Tirana transport police.
