Czech Embassy in Tirana celebrates the successful completion of the Czech EU Council Presidency July - December 2022

Czech Embassy hosted a Reception at the premises of House of Europe in Tirana to celebrate the successful completion of the Czech EU Council Presidency, which is ending slowly by the end of December 2022. The highest state officials and Diplomatic Corps accredited in Tirana, friends and closest partners of Czechia participated in the special evening.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Urban thanked everyone present for the cooperation during the six months of the Presidency. The Ambassador, amidst others, highlighted the leading role of Czechia within EU in the light of the new geopolitical events, noting that the Russian aggression of Ukraine had affected the priorities of the Presidency. At the same time, he mentioned the steps in the enlargement agenda, which EU took during the Czech Presidency (e.g. opening of negotiation talks in July, Ministerial Forum EU – Western Balkan on Justice and Home Affairs in November and last but not least the successful summit EU – Western Balkan in December).
Part of the reception was a performance by the talented pupils of “Maria Ndihmëtare Institute, QAFS” Shkodra who lit the atmosphere with their joyful dances and songs. Except for traditional Albanian songs, they also sang international Christmas songs in different languages, including Czech.
