These days, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Czechoslovak Consulate in Jerusalem, the first Czechoslovak diplomatic mission on the Arabian Peninsula.
The consulate began its activities on 16 January 1926 and was officially inaugurated on 23 February 1926, when the first Czechoslovak Consul, Vladimír Fric, presented his consular credentials to Herbert Plumer, then High Commissioner for Palestine.
The consulate operated without interruption until 1952. In 1935, it was elevated to the status of a Consulate General.
Its responsibilities were subsequently transferred to the Czechoslovak Embassy in Tel Aviv, which had been established in 1950.
