The story of Joseph Bau connects the Czech Republic and Israel

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tel Aviv, together with Cilla and Hadassah Bau, organized a lecture about Joseph Bau's work in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Their presentation detailed the life journey of this Israeli artist and Holocaust survivor. After surviving the horrors of the war, Joseph Bau, known for his creativity and artistic talent, gained recognition as an important figure in Israeli culture.

Various aspects of their father's life were presented during the lecture, from his professional beginnings to his later artistic work. Joseph Bau was related to Oskar Schindler and the factory in Brněnec, Moravia, which became key points in his survival during World War II. After the war, Joseph Bau emigrated to Israel, where he became a prominent animator and graphic designer. Although his story was closely linked to the horrors of the Holocaust, his work and life after the war were marked above all by humour, optimism and a creative spirit that broke the traditional boundaries of artistic expression. Joseph Bau reminds us of the meaning of survival, but also of living a life full of meaning and creativity, regardless of the circumstances.

This inspiring story continues to be relevant and important for current and future generations, and is an important contribution to the understanding of history and art.
