On the occasion of Yom HaShoah, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tel Aviv organized two cultural events commemorating the Holocaust on 3 May 2024 - a lecture by Bruce Mainzer and a book launch by Hana Sternlicht.
The event was launched by Bruce Mainzer's lecture entitled "Escape from the Nazis: the journey of two sisters and the hero who outwitted the Gestapo". This fascinating story describes the escape of Mainzer's mother and aunt from Nazi-occupied Prague in 1939 thanks to the activities of Mr. Harry Roth who rescued thousands of Jews.
Subsequently, Hana Sternlicht's book "The Girl from Terezín" was officially launched. This memory recounts the journey of twelve-year-old Hana, deported to the Terezín ghetto and then to other concentration camps in Eastern Europe. Published in English for the first time, this book offers a unique and personal perception of the horrors of the Holocaust.
Thank you all for your participation.
