Visa and Consular Information

Important announcements:

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tehran is responsible for processing and approving long-term visa and residence permit applications for legal residents of Iran.  The applicant must have a residence permit for Iran valid for at least 2 years. Afghani nationals that do not hold residence permit for Iran should contact the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Islamabad.

Consular section

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tehran has territorial consular and visa competence for Islamic Republic of Iran. Below you can find working hours and instructions where to find the necessary information. Latest changes and announcements can be also find here. Undelivered documents could be found on the Official Notice Board.

Official hours of the consular section:

Please be informed that entry to the Consular Section is permitted only with a valid appointment.

Exceptions are limited to:

  • Emergency situations involving Czech nationals .

For Schengen visa applications submitted by EU family members, please send your visa request by email to the Consular Section. The Embassy will contact you as soon as possible.

For submission of additional or missing documents (e.g. insurance, appeal, etc.) or for  the collection of documents (such as legalized documents or letters issued by MOI, etc.) applicants are kindly requested to refer to the schedule below:

Please be informed that if you can not find answers to your questions on our official website, you may contact the consular section of the Embassy by phone from Sunday to Wednesday between 15:00 and 16:00.

Visa services:

The Embassy is responsible for visa services for citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran and for those, who have valid residence permit in Iran with validity for more than 2 year. You can find general information about visa / residence permit for the Czech Republic on the website here.

Communication methods and working languages:

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tehran hereby announces that in accordance with Section 169 of Act No. 326/1999 Coll., On the Residence of Foreigners in the Czech Republic and on Amendments to Certain Acts (as amended), the working languages of the local authority (Visa Section) are Czech language and English language with the exception for interrogations which according to § 16 of the Administrative Procedure Code are always conducted in Czech language.

Applicants for long-term visas and residence permits who cannot communicate in the above stated languages need to arrange, at their own expenses, an interpreter.

The Embassy communicates by following methods only: email, regular post, fax or phone. The Embassy does not use any of social networks for communication.

The Embassy answers all emails, except spam, usually within 5 working days. You will not get any answers during the public holidays or weekends. Please, do not resend your requests or questions multiple times.     

Information on the working hours of the Consular Section

Due to the security situation the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tehran has been temporarily closed to general public. The resumption of visa and consular services gradually started at the beginning of September 2025. more ►
