The Embassy participated in a youth opinion festival

On Wednesday 14 April, a diplomatic opinion festival for youth took place in the Türi Cultural Center, where the topic "Improving the living environment in the rural municipality makes it the most appealing place to live" was jointly discussed. Representatives of six embassies had come to share their experiences.

The opinion festival was aimed at students of Türi municipality, and representatives of Retla-Kabala School, Laupa Basic School, Väätsa Basic School, Türi Basic School, Käru Basic School, Türi Co-education Gymnasium and Türi Municipality Youth Council took part in it. In the first half of the day, the representatives of the embassies spoke about the developments and bottlenecks in the rural areas of their countries. The Czech Embassy was represented by Petr Preclík, Deputy Head of Mission, who introduced the Czech rural areas and the Czech Rural Pact of 2022. In his presentation, Petr pointed out the fact that 46% of the Czech population would like to live outside the cities, specifically in rural areas. Petr also invited the students to express their opinion about their dream home. While the students of Türi mentioned the sauna as the first thing, the Czechs who answered the same question mostly pointed out the existence of the garden instead. Representatives of the Canadian, British, Spanish, Polish and Georgian embassies also shared interesting information.

Each school had prepared a presentation that highlighted the positive aspects of their hometown or village as well as what the young people miss there the most. Here, the students had used a very creative approach – while some schools made the entire presentation in the form of poetry, others had put together a video where they introduced already existing important places and possible locations for new facilities, such as a spa, botanical garden, etc. It was nice to see that the students value their living environment highly and also analyze how to improve it.

A diplomatic opinion festival for youth was held in cooperation between the NGO Diplomatic Relations Project and Türi Municipality.

In the second half of the day, it was the students’ turn to present their thoughts.
