
Markéta Pekarová Adamová, Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, spoke at the Lennart Meri Conference

Markéta Pekarová Adamová, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, visited Estonia on 16 and 17 May 2024. In Tallinn, the Speaker addressed the Lennart Meri Conference and held talks with the President of the Riigikogu Lauri Hussar, and Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
The delegation led by Speaker Pekarová Adamová travelled to Estonia as part of a wider Baltic tour, highlighting the crucial partnership between the Czech Republic and Estonia, particularly in the areas of defence, security and foreign policy.
Upon arrival in Estonia, the President of the Estonian Parliament, Lauri Hussar, received the Czech Speaker. The meeting focused on bilateral relations, regional security issues and cooperation within the EU and NATO. The discussion highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between the Czech Republic and Estonia.
As part of the opening of the Lennart Meri Conference on Thursday 16 May 2024, Speaker Pekarová Adamová visited the panel discussion in which, among others, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, President of Iceland Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson, Vice-President of the European Commission Věra Jourová spoke. The opening was followed by a gala dinner hosted by Estonian President Alar Karis, which provided an opportunity for further networking.
On 17 May, Speaker Pekarová Adamová started her day with a meeting with the Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. The two leaders discussed the deepening of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of defense and energy security.
Finally, Ms. Pekarová Adamová spoke at the Lennart Meri Conference in a panel debate on "The next conflict on the horizon: tensions in the Indo-Pacific". In her speech, she emphasized the importance of strategic leadership and cooperation between EU and NATO members in dealing with emerging global threats.
The visit of Markéta Pekarová Adamová highlighted the active role of the Czech Republic in supporting its Baltic allies and contributing to the stability and security of the region.
