Ambassador Jiří Šitler visited Gothenburg on April 19, 2018. During his stay in Gothenburg he met with Anders Danielsson, Västra Götaland governor and with representative of the mayor of Gothenburg Piotr Kiszkiel. Czech Ambassador was accompanied by a delegation of important Czech compatriots and the director of the Czech Center Stockholm, Zuzana Kabelkova.
Such a notable representation was on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Prague Spring and the subsequent invasion of Warsaw Pact troops into Czechoslovakia, which also resulted in the emigration of many of our citizens to Sweden. The meeting was attended by President of Sokol Göteborg Miloslava Štěvichová, oncologist and writer Karel Landyš, opera singer and music teacher Petr Procházka, artist and sportsman Mila Drunecká and illustrator Daniel Špaček. They discussed the events of 1968, the history of Czech-Swedish relations and the current business and cultural relations. During the visit, the Ambassador also visited the International Science Festival in Gothenburg to support Czech students and their robots designed in cooperation of Jirásek's grammar school in Náchod and Czech Technical University.
