Ambassador Jiří Šitler visited Kalmar County

Ambassador Jiří Šitler and his spouse Irina visited the Kalmar County on July 14 - 16, where they attended the birthday celebrations of Crown Princess Victoria and met the President of the City Council Roger Kaliff and Governor Thomas Carlzon.
The birthday celebrations took place in the gardens of the Royal palace Solliden on the island of Öland; the ambassador presented the Crown Princess with a small gift from Czechia: a glass decoration by the Czech Artcristal company and a book by Bohumil Hrabal The Little Town Where Time Stood Still published in Swedish translation by the Aspekt publishing house. Topics discussed with the President of the City Council Roger Kaliff included the upcoming parliamentary and local elections, as well as potential cultural, tourism and university cooperation. Roger Kaliff also mentioned his extensive experience with cooperation with the Czech Republic, notably the town of Jihlava, in his former capacity as Vice-President of the EU Council of Regions. During the lunch hosted by Governor Thomas Carlzon and his spouse Catarina, economic and cultural cooperation was discussed.
