The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) offers scholarships in 2026 for the Summer Schools of Slavonic Studies (SSSS) – intensive Czech language and culture courses (3–4 weeks), intended primarily for foreign students and professionals (e.g. teachers, translators, interpreters) aged 18+, but also open to other applicants interested in the Czech language, literature, history and culture.
Applicants from Sweden may apply for the following two programmes at Charles University:
• Prague – Charles University, Faculty of Arts | 16 July – 13 August 2026
• Poděbrady – Charles University, ÚJOP | 6 – 31 July 2026
Courses are delivered in Czech or in a combination of Czech and English depending on the entry level; the programmes typically cover levels A0–C1.
How to apply
The selection process has two stages and a scholarship can be awarded only on the basis of nomination (applications submitted without nomination will be rejected).
- Stage 1 (via the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm)
Submit the completed application form and required attachments. The application form (DOCX/PDF) is available below in the attachments. A mandatory attachment is a CV in Czech or English and a copy of your ID/passport. The application also includes a declaration confirming that the applicant can attend the course for its full duration. - Stage 2 (online registration of nominated applicants)
Nominated applicants register in the studujnavs.gov.cz system and submit an online application; applications are assessed by MEYS and the relevant Czech universities.
What the scholarship covers
The scholarship is paid by MEYS directly to the relevant university and covers tuition/course fees, study materials, accommodation and meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner), and also excursions and trips organised by the summer school. The scholarship does not cover international travel, insurance or any visa-related costs.
