Screening: Tiger Theory
16.09.2025 / 13:26
The 2016 film Tiger Theory by director Radek Bajgar was screened on Wednesday, September 24 at 6:00 PM at the Pavilion of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm. This screening was held in memory of Jiří Bartoška – actor and longtime president of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival – who had passed away on May 8, 2025.
About the film
They may once have been tigers—untamed, free creatures who refused to be dictated to. But now they’ve become obedient, domesticated “rabbits,” wondering where they lost their wild edge. This is how veterinarian Jan sees his current life situation. He believes his life is now entirely controlled by his assertive wife Olga (brilliantly portrayed by Eliška Balzerová).… Do men really have it that hard? Is it truly impossible to reach an understanding with women? Is the real man an endangered species today? And can life be changed even in later years? This tragicomedy about human relationships and gender roles was a major acting opportunity for Jiří Bartoška. (Karlovy Vary IFF)
