Screening: Cosy Dens

Pelíšky (Cosy Dens) is one of those films people love coming back to — funny, tender, and painfully familiar in the best way. Directed by Jan Hřebejk, this bittersweet comedy takes us to the pivotal year 1968 and shows how events of the era echo in ordinary family life. With iconic lines, brilliant acting, and a sharp eye for detail, the film has remained a favourite across generations.
Screening took place on Wednesday, 4 February 2026 at 18:00 at the Pavilion of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm. Guests had the opportunity to enjoy a Czech cinema classic that could make them laugh and move them within the same scene — and that still feels surprisingly current.
About the film
The story follows several characters across generations — parents, teenagers, and children — and their everyday joys and clashes at a time of rapid change. Set from autumn 1967 to the summer of 1968, with a short epilogue reaching into the 1970s, the film takes place in Hanspaulka, a Prague villa district. Its mosaic storytelling combines gentle poetry with subtle humour. (Source: Space Films)
