Jiří Šitler, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Sweden, visited the premiere of opera Jenůfa at Kungliga Operan in Stockholm on March 18, 2017 .
The famous opera composer Leoš Janáček has written not only the music but also the libretto of Jenůfa by shortening a drama by Gabriela Preissová.
This production, directed by Annilese Miskimmon, is a collaboration with the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen, and was first performed by Scottish Opera in April 2015 to much acclaim in the British media. At the Swedish premiere, the main role of Jenůfa was played and sung in the Czech original by Malin Bystrom and the role of Kostelnička by Lena Nordin.
