Wines from the Czech Republic in the Systembolaget

Following the presentation of Moravian wines on the Swedish market, which was held at the Czech Embassy in Stockholm in October 21, 2014, we announce that from March 3, 2015 is possible to order white and red wines from the wineries Baloun, Bzenec, Templar cellars and Znovín Znojmo on website of Systembolaget.
Selected wines from each winery will contribute to a wider range of quality wines on the Swedish market for a good price. To ensure possibility to buy Moravian wines as well in stores of Systembolaget, it is important to achieve some volume of orders via e-shop.
The wine region of Moravia
The wine region of Moravia is an area that contains an approved area for growing grapes in the area of historic land Morava. It consists of four wine regions: mikulovská, velkopavlovická, slovácká and znojemská. It includes 312 wine communes, 19 183 winegrowers and 16 734 ha of registered vineyards.
Viticulture in the Czech Republic has a tradition that dates back over two thousand years. Today Czech and Moravian wines are among the finest in Europe and are enjoyed all over the world. Present-day Czech viticulture uses modern and economical technologies, with the aim of world best production.
The company was established in 1991 after the revolution by Radomil Baloun. During the period of socialism owner was making wine, but in limited amount - 10 000 liters per year. This quantity was tolerated by contemporary regime. Family of Radomil Baloun was producing wine, so he has got experience with making wine since his was a child.
Winery Baloun is controlling over 100 hectares of vineyards and whole production is processed at two premises. These premises are being gradually reconstructed and replaced by a new technology. Winery makes over 1 000 000 liters of wine per year. Almost all wines are sold in bottles; small amount is sold in tanks to the wine companies.
The history of company is closely connected with the arrival of the mysterious Knights Templar in Cejkovice in the 1230s. The first winery cooperative was founded in 1936. Templar cellar Čejkovice is its successor since 1992. The heart of the company is still based in the historical cellars, where more than 350.000 liters of wine are stored in oak and barrique barrels together with an extensive archive of bottled wines. Industrial buildings in Čejkovice town hold up to 6.000.000 liters of capacity. Today, winemaking cooperative include an impressive 396 grape growers. The winemakers´ families have honesty and pride in their product which guarantee quality.

Through its subsidiaries they review and farm on 360 hectares of vineyards, which are located in three of the four sub-regions of Moravia.
Znojemsko- to obtain raw materials from 70 hectares of vineyards loess and gravel

Slovácko - 110 hectares, 35 are in the process of ecological certification of organic vineyards.
All vineyards are included in the so-called integrated production, which in the simplest translation is greatly limited use of chemicals.
Znovín Znojmo Winery is one of the most recognized popular wineries in the Czech Republic. A medium-sized producer of premium quality wines who manage their own vineyards and make and sell wines. Winemakers in Znovín believe that wine reflexes the vineyard of its origin. The team is constantly exploring new ideas and styles.
