On 12 March 2026, the Embassy organized a presentation of technologies for protection against CBRN threats (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear). The event connected Czech manufacturers EGO Zlín and Gumárny Zubří with their Swedish partners and representatives of the Swedish Agency for Civil Protection and Resilience (MCF).
The guests were welcomed and the event moderated by the Deputy Ambassador, Jaromír Vejrych. Over the course of two thematic blocks, Czech companies and their Swedish partners presented practical solutions for civil defense and CBRN protection. In the first block, EGO Zlín presented solutions for biological/CBRN protection, including an isolation unit – the “biobag” – designed for the safe transport of infectious patients, as well as a box for handling hazardous shipments. EGO Zlín also showcased additional technological solutions, including modular medical and decontamination tents. The Swedish partner of EGO Zlín, Nanohub Arctic AB, presented air‑cleaning solutions based on photocatalysis, focused on reducing pathogens and selected air pollutants.
In the second block, Gumárny Zubří presented protective gas masks, including a special hood-type mask designed also for children. The Swedish partner, Jowill AB, introduced its portfolio of products and equipment for security and civil protection services.
After the presentations, participants had the opportunity to view practical demonstrations of the products and engage in informal discussions between Czech companies and MCF representatives. The event was thus more than a product showcase: it highlighted the synergy between public‑sector responsibility and industrial innovation, while also confirming that today’s threats can be faced together – and that the long-standing Czech tradition and expertise in the field of CBRN protection can be shared confidently with our Swedish partners.
CBRN risks remain a constant element of today’s security environment, and rapid technological development makes these threats even more pressing while increasing the complexity of required countermeasures. This trend – together with the experience gained during the COVID‑19 pandemic – underscores the need to strengthen preparedness and cooperation at both national and international levels, between the public and private sectors, so that society can better protect its citizens and maintain key state functions even in crisis situations.
Sweden considers civil defense one of the pillars of its “total defense” concept, which it has been developing since the 1970s. Significant investments are therefore directed into civil defense. The robustness of Sweden’s civil‑defense system is built on strong partnerships with the private sector, based on expertise, reliability, predictability, shared objectives, and resilient supply chains.
