Airport Transit Visa and Related Requirements

Airport transit visa enables its holder passing through the transit areas of the airport during a stop-over or transfer, but does not entitle the holder to request the entry into the territory of the Czech Republic or any other Schengen country...
Airport transit visas are required for foreigners with travel documents of:
Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Chad, (The Democratic Republic of) Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, India, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Mali, Mauretania, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestinian Territory, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Yemen.
The following categories of persons (except citizens of Syria) are exempt from the requirement to hold an airport transit visa:
- holders of a valid uniform visa, national long-stay visa or residence permit issued by a Member State
- third-country nationals holding the valid residence permits issued by Andorra, Canada, Japan, San Marino or the United States of America guaranteeing the holder's unconditional readmission
- third-country nationals holding a valid visa for a Member State or for a State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area of 2 May 1992, Canada, Japan or the United States of America, or when they return from those countries after having used the visa
- family members of citizens of the Union
- holders of diplomatic passports
- flight crew members who are nationals of a contracting Party to the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation
VISA REQUIREMENTS
- All applications must be made in person!
- Only application forms completed legibly, signed by the applicant or the legal guardian for children with all necessary supporting documents will be accepted!
- In some cases further documents and guarantees can be required.
- Applications shall be lodged no more than three months before the start of the intended visit.
The applicant must present:
- A passport having been issued within the previous 10 years and valid for at least 90 days beyond the validity of the requested visa (with at least two blank visa pages).
- One recent passport photograph (please attach your photograph with glue to the application, do not staple).
- A valid visa/s to enter the country of final destination and/or all other transit countries if they are needed.
- An international airplane ticket with confirmed term of departure from the Czech Republic.
- Supporting documents in accordance with Article 14 and Annex II of the Visa Code.
- Proof of possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance in accordance with Article 15 of the Visa Code, where applicable.
Note the following:
- The Embassy can not guarantee the issuance of any visa. There is no legal entitlement to a visa!
- Holders of Schengen visas are still subject to immigration control and are not guaranteed entry into any of the Schengen countries.
- Each travelling child up to the age of 15 inscribed in a passport needs to present a separate application form with a photograph and birth certificate! Once the child has reached the age of 15, a separate passport is necessary.
