The International Women`s Club of Sofia (IWC) organized this year's 24th annual traditional charity bazaar. Our embassy, initially also thanks to the initiative of several of our women compatriots living in Sofia, had participated again. For charity was given - as a result of all sales – a bit less than 4,000 leva (over CZK 50,000).
Both Czech and local embassy staff and their relatives commonly with the colleagues from the Czech Centre, as well as our sponsors, mainly ČEZ Bulgaria, contributed to this good result; three types of Czech beer were granted (Bernard and Staropramen as draft beer and Budvar was delivered in bottles). The charity was supported also by another business company with the Czech owner – the distillery Vinprom Troyan (Rudolf Jelinek).
ČEZ's financial donation was used for buying Czech porcelain, crystal and Prague ham as well as meat for the traditional and this year exceptionally attractive goulash, prepared by self-help.
The Czech compatriots and the wives of the employees of the embassy baked several kinds of cakes (traditional Czech cake “koláč”).
All of these items raised a great interest in Bulgarian citizens, foreigners and fellow diplomats, so it can be said that they were “hopelessly” sold out before the end of the bazaar.
On the attached pictures can be seen the design of the Czech stand at the 24th charity bazaar in Sofia, the offered goods and the group of volunteers who did not hesitate to sacrifice their free time for this important cause.
