Ambassador Dušan Štrauch met with representatives of the city of Shumen
Ambassador Dušan Štrauch met with Mayor of Shumen Mr. Ljubomir Christov. During the meeting, the mayor introduced the economic development and cultural and historical values of the city. The possibilities for cooperation between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic were discussed in several areas, including transport. The meeting was attended by the Czech company SOR, which presented its own production of buses, trolleybuses and electric buses. After a meeting, the Ambassador was invited by the Mayor to visit the city's industrial park and to look at the opportunities and conditions offered to entrepreneurs. During the visit, the Ambassador also met with the District Governor, Prof. Stefan Zhelev. During the meeting the Ambassador of the Czech Republic was acquainted with the development of the area. The city of Shumen is developing at a good pace, thanks to foreign investors and local businesses, unemployment in the city is only 3%. However, small towns and villages around the town of Shumen have an unemployment rate of up to 10%, so people from small settlements move to the district town. The governor introduced the ambassador practice and prevention of the people and the environment, and mentioned the tragic case of a heavy rail accident in the village of Chitrino in 2016.
