
Exhibition „Bulgarian Czechs“

On May 16, 2017 the opening of the Exhibition „Bulgarian Czechs“ was held at the premises of State Agency „Archives“ in Sofia. This documentary exhibition was organized by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) and State Agency „Archives“ and presented portraits of some of known Czechs, who contributed to the development of Bulgaria, especially at the end of 19th century and beginning of 20th century.
The exhibition was opened by the speech of General Director of BTA Mr. Maxim Minchev, chairman of the State Agency „Archives“ Mr. Michail Gruev, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Dušan Štrauch, curator of the exhibition and famous photographer Mr. Ivo Hadzhimishev, and Mrs. Vjara Pipeva, member of the significant Czech Prošek family well established in Bulgaria for more than 130 years.
The exhibition presents archival materials and collections about life and admirable acts of Czechs in Bulgaria. Exhibited original materials are part of the rich collections, which are deposited at State Archive and it´s branches in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Sliven, Shumen, Blagoevgrad as well as at the Archive of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, National Gallery and private collections.
