Students of the Czech language demonstrated their knowledge in a competition at Zhejiang International Studies University

On June 26, a Czech language competition was held at Zhejiang International Studies University (ZISU) in Hangzhou between students from three universities in the consular district of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Shanghai, which offer Czech language courses: in addition to ZISU, it was Zhejiang Yuexiu University in Shaoxing ( ZYU) and Shanghai International Studies University (SISU).
 

Karel Šrol, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Shanghai introduced the whole event with a speech, and then the competition took place with the participation of a total of 20 students, finalists from individual schools. Students delivered interesting presentations on various topics, such as Alfons Mucha, Krteček, experiences from studying in the Czech Republic, Czech grammar, Czech customs and traditions, or famous Czech personalities.

The panel of judges, which also included Consul General Karel Šrol, evaluated the presentations in terms of content, pronunciation, grammar, expression, presentation and performance. A total of 10 prizes were awarded. Students from all three schools achieved good results.

The afternoon was dedicated to the international cultural festival, which was opened by Consul General K. Šrol and deputy party secretary from ZISU. The festival included outdoor stalls showcasing food, drinks and art from different countries. At the Czech stand, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the Czech Republic, browse CzechTourism brochures and taste Czech beer. Those who correctly answered small quiz about famous Czech persons won small prizes with the motifs of the Little Mole, Prague, Alfons Mucha and others

This event gave students and general public an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the Czech language and culture.
