Meeting on the Possible Resumption of the Direct Flight between Shanghai and Prague

On 4 February 2026, a meeting took place in Shanghai between representatives of Prague Airport, a.s., and the airline China Eastern Airlines to discuss the possibilities and conditions for the potential resumption of a direct air connection between Shanghai and Prague.

The delegation, led by Jiří Vyskoč, Executive Director of Aviation Business Development at Prague Airport, and accompanied by Jindřich Kubovský, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Shanghai, and Lukáš Pokorný, Director of the Beijing Office of CzechTourism, met with representatives of China Eastern Airlines, which had operated a direct route between Shanghai and Prague prior to the pandemic.

The Czech side presented the current developments in tourism and the potential for restoring the direct connection, supported by the growing number of Chinese travelers to the Czech Republic. Representatives of Prague Airport also outlined the facilities, services, and traffic statistics of Prague’s Václav Havel Airport.

Both parties remain in contact regarding future developments and further negotiations. Representatives of the Consulate General will continue to provide full cooperation in the next steps.
