Success of the Czech museology in Riyadh

On Sunday, May 8, 2016 the project “Europe Month 2016 in Saudi Arabia” was launched in Riyadh's National Museum.
The exhibition “Islamic Art in the collections of European museums” became the event of the month. A distinctive mark was created also by the Czech Republic, thanks to the willingness and operative leadership of the National Museum in Prague. The Czech Republic was one of the twelve participating countries of the European Union and presented a cross-sectional five photographs of artifacts from collections of the Náprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures of the National Museum in Prague.
A three-day international seminar with the participation of experts of seven EU Member States was held to the above mentioned topic. On the final day of the seminar, the deputy director and curator of Middle East and Africa collections of the Náprstek Museum Dr. Pavel Onderka presented the Islamic collections of the Museum.
