Conference: “New Electricity Market Design: Framework for Achieving the Energy Union”.

The conference organized by the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU will take place on 31st January 2017 in Brussels. New Electricity Market Design is high on the agenda for the Czech Republic. Therefore, the aim of the Conference is to stir up the discussion among Member States, EU institutions, energy businesses and stakeholders as their interaction on the issue will help to find a final shape of the regulatory framework for fulfilling Energy Union goals.
The conference will take place on 31st January 2017 from 9.30 to 13.00 in the premises of the Czech Permanent Representation to the EU.

Background
The European Commission called 2016 the year of delivery on the Energy Union and the “Clean Energy for All Europeans” package was introduced. Year 2017 should thus be dedicated to discussion, negotiation and implementation. The New Electricity Market Design is of key importance for delivering on Energy Union, because we need a reliable and stable framework for electricity market which would integrate renewable energy, enhance the market and motivate investors to decide on investments. New Electricity Market Design is high on the agenda for the Czech Republic. Therefore, the aim of the Conference is to stir up the discussion among Member States, EU institutions, energy businesses and stakeholders as their interaction on the issue will help to find a final shape of the regulatory framework for fulfilling Energy Union goals.
