On Saturday 4 December 2021, a charity event was held at the Home of Peace, children's home in Bethlehem run by the Sisters of St. Elizabeth. The event was attended by the Head of the Representative Office of the Czech Republic Petr Starý, together with other Representatives of Central European countries. The Christmas gathering was also supported by the Salesian priests from the Cremisan Monastery. The Representative Office prepared Czech cakes, Christmas sweets and traditional straw Christmas decorations for the children.
The Sisters of the Order of St. Elizabeth have been working in the Holy Land since 1931, when they started to run a hostel for Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem. The orphanage in Bethlehem was founded by Polish sisters in 2010. Eighteen children live there permanently and another thirteen are provided with day care.
