During the first weekend of Advent, the Representative Office of the Czech Republic in Ramallah joined the festivities of the season and participated in the Christmas market in Bethlehem. The proceeds from the sale of traditional Czech decorations and Christmas dishes were donated to charity.
Despite the capricious weather, this year‘s Bethlehem Christmas market was attended in abundance. Locals and visitors alike gathered at the main square in the historic centre of the city, enjoying the Advent atmosphere as well as the plenitude of traditional products and gastronomic specialties offered by local organizations as well as diplomatic missions.
The Czech booth featured traditional straw Christmas ornaments and other artisanal decorations. Numerous visitors marvelled at the rich flavours of the Czech Christmas Eve table: traditional pea soup, gingerbread cake, honey gingerbread cookies, as well as other sweets. Others chose to taste the presented aromatic mulled wine or Czech beer.
