The ceremony was held on 29 September 2021, in presence of Palestinian media, to hand over the rehabilitation equipment purchased in the framework of a small local project to the rehabilitation hospital in Beit Jala, near Bethlehem.
The closing ceremony of the project took place in the presence of Petr Starý, Head of the Czech Representative Office, and Edmund Shehadeh, Director General of the Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (BASR), the non-profit organization that runs the hospital. The purchased equipment - a rehabilitation safe-walker treadmill equipped with a safety harness for patients who are learning to walk again after an injury, as well as a high intensity laser and a portable spirometer designed by a Czech medical supplies manufacturer BTL - will replace the inadequate and in some cases improvised equipment the hospital has been using until recently. The new equipment will significantly expand the rehabilitation care that the hospital provides to its patients, including children and marginalised groups of population.
