On 11th July 2018, the Head of the Czech Republic's Representative Office Mr. Petr Stary visited the Shepherds Brewery in the town of Birzeit in the West Bank. In this brewery, both Czech technology and raw materials are used to produce beer.
The Shepherds Brewery was founded by three brothers who decided to make beer by traditional Czech methods, using Žatec hops as well as malt from the Czech Republic. Part of the technology also comes from the Czech Republic, including the filling line produced by Raveco from Chotěboř. Refrigeration and drafting equipment was supplied to the Shepherds Brewery by Lindner from Nechanice. The owner of the brewery, Mr. Ala Suleiman Sayej, said that the current yearly beer production is ten thousand hectoliters. As a result, the Brewery controls about 15-20% of the West Bank market. The brewery is currently increasesing production and expanding the existing facilities.
