The comedy "Returnable bottles" of Czech film director Jan Svěrák proved successful at 11th Pyongyang International Film Festival
The Czech film director Jan Svěrák´ s film "Vratné lahve (Returnable bottles)" was successfully showed at the 11th Pyongyang International Film Festival. Czech Embassy staff headed by Ambassador Mr. Martin Tomčo attended the screening on 24th September and witnessed the success it had with the North Korean audience. The success of the comedy is particularly noteworthy because of the fact North Koreans´ familiarity with European environment is very limited (for instance, the movie had to be translated as "Empties" since the information about the system of returnable bottles has never reached DPRK).
The film was awarded one of the two Special Prizes of the International Jury. The prize was handed over to the Czech Ambassador during the Awarding Ceremony. The Embassy extends its congratulations to Mr. Jan Svěrák.
