H.E. Mr. Petr Gandalovič
Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the OECD, 2017–2021
Petr Gandalovič was born in 1964 in Prague and studied mathematics and physics at Charles University in Prague.
After completing his studies, Petr Gandalovič taught mathematics and physics at a high school (Gymnasium) in Ústí nad Labem, and subsequently, from 1990 to 1992, became a member of the Federal Assembly of the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic.
From 1992 to 1994, Petr Gandalovič was appointed Deputy Minister at the Ministry of the Environment, and in 1994, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he held several high-ranking positions: from 1994 to 1995, he was an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, from 1995 to 1997, Director General of the Economic and Information Section, and from 1997 to 2002, he served as the Consul General of the Czech Republic in New York.
From 2002 to 2006, he served as Mayor of the city of Ústí nad Labem, and in 2006, he became a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. In 2006, Mr. Gandalovič was appointed Minister for Regional Development, and from 2007 to 2009, he served as Minister of Agriculture. From 2009 to 2010, he was a member of the Agricultural Committee, and from 2010 to 2011, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
From 2011 to 2017, he served as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States, and from 2017 to 2021, as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the OECD.
