EU-India Water Cooperation in R & D - Joint Call for Proposals

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi informs entities from the scientific, research and innovation environment in India about the call for funding of joint projects announced by the European Commission together with the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Biotechnology to support EU-India scientific and research cooperation and to support the potential in the field of nature and environmental protection through water and waste management.
 

Scope

 This action should develop new and/or adapt the most suitable existing innovative and affordable solutions for Indian conditions, both in urban and rural areas, by addressing one or more of the following broad challenges - Drinking water purification with a focus on emerging pollutants; Waste water treatment, with scope for resource/energy recovery, reuse, recycle and rainwater harvesting, including bioremediation technologies; Real time monitoring and control systems in distribution and treatment systems.

Participation

A joint proposal to be submitted by a consortium of at least 3 entities from India and 3 entities in the European Union is conditional and is a formal requirement for submitting the application. Additional eligibility criteria are described in the call text. Above the minimum number of participants (3 + 3), the number of subjects is not limited.
The application must be submitted jointly on behalf of European and Indian entities electronically on the http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/opportunities/h2020/topics/sc5-12-2018.html  Application Form and the use of an electronic system must first be registered with the European Commission Authentication Service.

Eligibility

On Indian side, at least three different legal entities from India. All legal entities shall be independent of each other.

Funding

This call is targeted for projects ranging from 3 to 5 years with total spending (for the EU and Indian partner together) of € 3-5 million. The total allocation is € 30 million, so the expected number of supported projects is 6 - 10.

Eligible costs: manpower (JRF, SRF, RA, TA etc.), consumables, travel cost (domestic and international), fieldwork, laboratory equipment, demonstration plant including construction, civil/electrical/mechanical works and contingency, training and awareness. Indirect costs – overhead charges: as per DST and DBT norms.

 

Last date for receipt of Applications:

The joint proposal must be submitted by 27th of February 2018 (17:00 CET and 23:59 IST) after which the web-link will be automatically disabled for any usage. A hard copy of the version submitted online to the Horizon 2020 Participant Portal, should be submitted to both DST and DBT by 12th March 2018 at the latest, to the following postal address by speed post only
