Government Scholarships for Indian Students in 2026/2027

Under the bilateral agreement with India, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi announces scholarships for the academic year 2026/2027. These scholarships are available to university/college students or graduates and Ph.D. candidates (exceptionally for academic staff members, if the exchange programme concerned involves this target group) who wish to undertake study or research visits to one of the Czech public institutions of higher education.
Government scholarships for Indian students in 2026/2027
A total of three scholarships are available for the upcoming year. These scholarships are intended for:
1. University students
2. College students
3. Graduates
4. Ph.D. candidates (exceptionally for academic staff members)
These scholarships are aimed at individuals who wish to undertake a study or research visit at one of Czech public institutions of higher education: https://msmt.gov.cz/eu-and-international-affairs/public-institutions-of-higher-education-1?lang=2
The scholarship includes:
- Up to 10 months of research/study stay at one of the Czech public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic, free of charge.
- 12,000 CZK (approximately 575 USD) per month for graduate students.
- 13,000 CZK (approximately 620 USD) per month for postgraduate students.
- Accommodation at the student dormitory at a discounted rate.
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided at the student dormitory at a discounted rate.
- No visa application fee.
The scholarship does not include:
- Airfare to the Czech Republic.
- Medical insurance.

2. Letter of Invitation:
Applicants are advised to contact the preferred Czech university/department to which they intend to apply for the MEYS scholarship to obtain a letter of recommendation or acceptance.
3. Academic Curriculum Vitae
4. List of Publications (if applicable)
5. Detailed Plan of Study/Research
6. Two Letters of Recommendation: From academic supervisors or employers
7. Photocopy of Diploma (if applicable)
The diploma/university degree must be verified by a notary.
8. Certified Transcript(s) of Records
Must be certified by the respective department/university of the applicant.
9. Copy of Passport
10. Fine Arts and Performing Arts Students/Graduates: A sample of artistic work (e.g., photographs, video/audio recordings of a musical performance, etc.)

Application Procedure
The application process is conducted in two steps. Please review the scheme below carefully:
1. Application with all documents must first be submitted in paper form to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in one original set.
2. The Embassy will review the applications and select candidates and substitutes.
3. Selected candidates and substitutes will then receive a special link from the Embassy to complete the online submission.
4. Selected candidates and substitutes will then upload their full application, including all required documentation, into the online system.
As this is a two-step procedure, kindly ensure that you scan each document before sending your application file to the Embassy. Please note that the Embassy will not provide scans of your paper application.
Incomplete application dossiers or inadequately completed forms will not be processed.
Applicants are required to inform their prospective host universities of their intention to apply for the MEYS scholarship.
Additional information
All selected candidates and substitutes will be contacted directly by the Embassy during March 2026.
If the Embassy will not reach out to you by 31 March 2026, it means you have not been chosen as a candidate or substitute for the scholarship. Please note that the Embassy will not provide individual justifications for non-selection.
The final decision on which nominated candidates or substitutes will be awarded the scholarship is expected to be communicated directly to them by 30 June 2026.
